I'd say it applies to pretty much anything that can go in your mouth, espically smokes. Actually smokes can be extened to the 5 or even ten second rule. You see the combustion of smokes creates heat thus sterilizing the smoke itself.

Now on the other hand cold items are only safe for 1 second or less. You know that theory about people being frozen then brought back to life, it applies here. So lets say you drop your missle pop on the ground, well its pretty much a goner.
